Over a period of time, there is a contradictory difference between the understanding of worldly people and that of devotee. A worldly wise person lives for himself and invariably things, “What’s in for me?” By contrast, fan follower of devotee thinks, “what does God want?” Everything a worldly person does is intended to take him outside of himself; on the other hand everything a devotee does is intended to remind him of who he is inside.
It is important to develop this interiorised awareness. We must aggressively foster this state, because the world trains us to see things in a different way. The world tells us that everything we pursue must be found by reaching outside ourselves for something we don’t already have.
In everything you try and do to withdraw your mind within. Perform this regularly let everything that you do remind you of your blissful nature. Be with the nature to be flowing always in love and joy. You can develop this kind of in wardness by involving in adventure activities which brings you a sense of pleasure and joy and which always keeps you intact as far as your dreams is concerned.
Sometimes that joy gets so intense you can barely stand it, and yet if you relax a bit, it keeps growing. There are many people on the path trying to achieve this kind of inwardness, but because they haven’t understood it from within, they approach it in a cold or unfriendly way, without enough consideration for others. Instead of withdrawing into the fountainhead of divine energy, and then pouring that energy out to all, they become too involved in themselves. Don’t give a chance to allow yourself to get caught in that taciturnity.
How do you develop that type of inwardness?
It’s essential to mix up with people who have that awareness. But you don’t have to be with the person physically in order to get the full benefit of sat sang with him. Try also not to be with people who take your mind outwards. Be with those people who remind you of your inner self-who inspire you in a heavenly way by bringing you more into an impersonal cognizance, and more towards this inwardness.
When you are with friends and you feel that flow of bliss, you have touched the edge of divine love. This kind of soul contact is the most valuable thing that can happen between people.
To cultivate this type of inwardness you need to indulge in yourself and your team without allowing yourself to think that you are a limited human being. You may indeed have faults to overcome, but these are just unwanted plants in your garden.
